Protocols Configuration Overview
emCA support multiple standard certificate management protocols such as ACME and EST to enable secure and automated handling of digital certificates. These protocols allow systems, applications, and devices to request, renew, or retrieve certificates seamlessly.
ACME (Automatic Certificate Management Environment) is designed for fully automated certificate issuance. emCA’s support for ACME protocols ensures smooth integration with a wide range of clients (such as PJAC etc.) while maintaining high levels of security and compliance.
EST (Enrollment over Secure Transport) provides certificate enrollment over HTTPS with strong authentication and is ideal for systems needing proof-of-possession.
SCEP (Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol): Supports certificate enrollment for network devices and constrained environments. Suitable for MDM, firewalls, and routers.
CMP (Certificate Management Protocol): Provides comprehensive certificate lifecycle operations including issuance, renewal, and revocation. Ideal for enterprise-grade PKI with flexible transport options.
